Agile Cities Survey

Introduction

Creating Transparent Markets for City Innovation – A Survey

Thank you for accepting to collaborate with us.

Agile Cities is an initiative by Metropolis, Living Labs Global, The Climate Group, Citymart.com and the Technology Strategy Board to improve the process for how cities identify their needs and discover global solutions. Cities are facing major challenges including immigration, aging populations, climate change, economic constraints and aging infrastructure or the need to rapidly build new infrastructure. Agile Cities will support cities in creating strategies around the use of new technologies such as IT and telecoms to enable city services, and provide a concrete platform - CityMart.com - for linking cities with solution providers in an intelligent marketplace.

City governments are necessary catalysts for innovation in the clean, smart revolution. Agile Cities will encourage cities to co-design a pre-procurement standard that unlocks innovation for cities and helps to accelerate the market for high impact, integrated and connected solutions to solve major city problems.

The Goals of this survey

Our objective for this survey is to understand:

  1. What are your city's main challenges over the next 5 years?
  2. How does your city identify, validate and eventually communicate these challenges?
  3. How does your city discover and evaluate available solutions and different approaches to meet the challenges?
  4. How does your city deal with unsolicited solutions?
  5. What are some of the solutions underway in your city and how are you going about implementing them?
  6. What is the importance of Integrated City Systems in your city?

Why should a city take part in this Survey?

By completing this survey, your city will become part of Agile Cities, a global two-year initiative to inform you about global market trends for city solutions, the sharing of innovation processes from cities such as Barcelona and San Francisco, and to share your own experiences. Agile Cities will publish an open standard for pre-procurement in which you can participate if you join the initiative.

The results of the survey will be used by Agile Cities members and will only be made public in anonymous summary formats. However, cities that agree to participate in the survey will be able to gain privileged access to the results as a valuable learning tool - although data will remain in anonymous formats.

To better understand the survey we suggest you take a look at all the questions before starting to reply. Once you have all the information you need it shouldn’t take you more than 15 minutes to fill in all the questions.

Deadline for submission is 07.09.2012.

We hope you will find our initiative interesting.

Thank you for your collaboration.
